My gig at the Moon Cardiff July 13th 2019 is in support of the culmination of 2 years of long, meditative craft; which takes the form of my debut album, released soon on all streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon etc.

I've been struggling with the term 'album' because it has felt somewhat pretentious, instead opting for the term 'mixtape', up until now that is. Because, it is an album that I've been working towards. I haven't just thrown together a few tracks. I've written and curated a solidly cohesive, conceptual and meticulous piece of art, admittedly not free from imperfections. To quote Queen Kate Bush "I have a level of dissatisfaction around everything I do, I don't think I'd want to keep doing it if I didn't".

For the past 2 years 'Anima' has been my soul. The reason I get up and plod along with the 9 to 5, to come back home and harness that elusive 'meaning' through writing, recording and creating. The 'Anima' is best described as the unconscious feminine side of a man's psyche. She can appear as a nymph, a siren, the mermaid who lures men down into the depths of their soul. The Anima enables man to open himself to spirituality, creativity, imagination and psychic sensitivity. On a surface level, this can reflect the issues I've had struggling with my own femininity but it also exhibits and encourages my sense of mystery, philosophy and darkness, not of an insidious kind, but of exploration into the unknown.

It would have been impossible for me to create this project alone and I've been fortunate enough to work with exceptional producers and artists. The first person I'd like to thank is Sunbane. You took the initial chance on me and have offered collaborations, gig opportunities and an immense technical proficiency. I can't thank you enough for your contributions to Anima and I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's gig. Bex, for opening up Garageband and having the humility to make some pretty dodgy demos Lady Leshurr would have been proud of. It's been awesome to watch your skills develop and I love the music we've produced together. You are the catalyst to all my artistic intentions which makes me value your friendship even more. Jonatan Bäckelie, my brotherly Swede from a different breed. I can't believe my luck that we matched on Vampr and it's been an honour to watch all the madness unfurl from that. Having spent time with you, your family and friends in your hometown, I can truly say that your hospitable and endearing personality makes you every bit a superstar as your music implies. Takk sa mygett! TIËRNY, after pestering you for ages, I finally got you to provide the most beautiful vocals. You are my Anima, and I can't think of anyone more perfect to sing on my album. Watching your star ascend fills me with utter excitement that I managed to bag you for my own creative ambitions. Please consider me as a support act for your arena tour! Ezra Nixon, one of my oldest friends. That beautiful piano piece you composed for my poem sends shivers down my spine. It's perfect in every way. There is such a special trinity in 'The Holiest Ransom' between us three creators, despite you two not knowing each other, that really fills my heart with transcendence. Thank you!
